KNESS at GREEN:EXPO 2026

KNESS team is excited about the busy and productive time at the GREEN:EXPO 2026 international exhibition! The event, dedicated to distributed generation and renewable energy, was filled with productive meetings, negotiations, new connections, and expert discussions. As forum speakers, exhibitors, and visitors, we’re reflecting on our participation in the international exhibition and conference, sharing the key takeaways, as well as our observations on energy sector trends in Ukraine.

KNESS at the forum “Decentralization of the Energy Sector: A New Stage of Transformation”

Tetiana Petrovska, Commercial Director of the KNESS Group, took part in the discussion “Local Energy in Action: Experience, Case Studies and Innovations,” where participants discussed distributed generation, projects that have proven their effectiveness and return on investment, as well as technologies that deliver the best results for enhancing energy independence and sustainability of businesses.

Tatiana shared the KNESS team’s experience in selecting the optimal equipment configuration for energy storage projects, implementation case studies, and practical results from energy storage systems operation in the market:

  • KNESS’s portfolio already includes nearly 200 MWh of energy storage projects implemented on a turnkey basis: from development, design, selection and supply of all equipment to construction and grid connection. After implementation, most projects undergo a full range of services provided by KNESS which covers maintenance, commercial asset management, and participation in the KNESS’s Aggregated or Balancing Group.
  • ESS projects implemented last year are now operating effectively in various modes. This is evident from the data we receive through the commercial asset management of the ESS project portfolio. As a tool for managing the operational logic of power facilities, our team uses the EMS by KNESS, which has been developed in-house. This tool ensures that the energy storage facility automatically responds to frequency deviations, provides frequency regulation and active power regulation services, maintains the operating system-wide power factor (SOC), and aligns system services with market operations. Thus, with the help of sophisticated automation algorithms in our EMS, we can see that the ESS from our partner manufacturer HiTHIUM is operating at maximum efficiency.
  • We also obtain effective results when modeling the operation of hybrid projects. For example, a well-designed combination of a solar power plant and an ESS allows for the compensation of imbalances by charging the ESS with excess SPP generation, stabilizing the output point, and maintaining the SPP’s scheduled operation.

Insights from the exhibition hall: demand and trends in Ukraine’s energy sector

KNESS’s stand served as a gathering point for anyone interested in both full-cycle energy sustainability projects and stand-alone solutions. Installers, owners of power generation facilities, as well as medium and large businesses primarily explored opportunities for implementing ESS projects. Inquiries regarding hybrid projects, such as SPP+ESS, are also gaining popularity, so discussions focused on both the metal structures for solar power plants manufactured by KNESS and the selection of equipment for energy conversion and storage. KNESS is a strategic partner and official distributor of energy solutions from HiTHIUM and other global manufacturers, so some of the meetings focused on a detailed analysis of the technical parameters of energy equipment. Additionally, an increasing number of energy facility owners are interested in tools to optimize the operation of their facilities, specifically exploring the benefits of Balancing and Aggregated Groups.

Compared to previous GREEN:EXPO events, visitor numbers this year are significantly higher. It is clear that interest in distributed generation and renewable energy is growing in Ukraine every year. The growing demand in the ESS market is also driving manufacturers, distributors, and installers to seek high-quality, innovative, and comprehensive solutions, while simultaneously increasing the value of experience and expertise in the field. These trends make Ukraine one of the most promising markets for ESS and distributed generation in Europe today.

Forming trends in the Ukrainian and global energy sectors together. We would like to thank all visitors, colleagues, and partners for the meetings and collaboration, and the organizers of GREEN:EXPO for the opportunity to share experiences and solutions.
