On Friday, Kaspars Melnis, the Minister of Climate and Energy of the Republic of Latvia, visited the solar power plant SIA “SP Ludza” with a capacity of almost 5 MW which was implemented by our KNESS Baltic team. The facility is located in the city of Ludza. Reviewing the new powerful renewable generation facility took place as part of the Minister’s general visit to meet local companies that have made significant investments in sustainable development, meet with entrepreneurs and municipal authorities supporting the implementation of environmental and innovative solutions in the community, etc.
At the meeting, Andrii Kalinovskyi, CEO of KNESS Baltic, talked about the company’s activities, the stages and features of the solar plant in Ludza, the technical characteristics of the facility, and plans for further scaling up solar generation in the country.
“The newly constructed solar station generates 5,085,696 kWh of clean electricity per year. To make that clear, this electricity can potentially be enough to provide approximately 2,400 households with clean energy. The new solar generation facility will reduce CO2 emissions by 5,000 tons annually.
Currently, the total portfolio of KNESS Baltic projects in Latvia is approximately 50 MW, some of which have already been implemented (20.5 MW). The other part is at an early construction stage and is planned to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2024,” said Andrii Kalinovskyi.
A precise understanding of the industry needs and the required actions on the way to the energy transition, openness to questions, ideas, and proposals from businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, communities and, most importantly, a willingness to solve important tasks and problems in the energy sector – these are the impressions we got after meeting and communicating with Kaspars Melnis, Minister of Climate and Energy of the Republic of Latvia. Thank you for the meeting. The future lies in the development of renewable energy.
