The KNESS Balancing Group is currently one of the largest in Ukraine in terms of renewable energy capacities and energy storage facilities. It consists of more than 350 MW of various types of renewable energy sources and 175 MW/300 MWh of energy storage capacities. In total, the KNESS Balancing Group includes more than 111 wholesale market participants with a total capacity of more than 500 MW.
Such a mix of generation and energy storage facilities increases the flexibility of the balancing group’s capacity portfolio and allows the KNESS team to effectively compensate for the imbalances of all its participants by up to 80%. This is a win-win business cooperation that opens up clear prospects for development.
Another important point is that KNESS Balancing Group participants are not obliged to pay a financial guarantee to conduct transactions on the electricity purchase and sale market. Moreover, renewable energy producers can take advantage of a business model that does not involve any imbalance settlement fees. KNESS also guarantees the purchase and timely payment for the entire volume of electricity consumed/output to market participants.
As a reminder, KNESS was one of the first companies on the market to organize its own Balancing and Aggregated Groups for renewable energy producers and energy storage facilities. The team’s significant experience in the electricity market and expertise have ensured effective operation and stable scaling.
