KNESS and HiTHIUM have signed a framework agreement to supply an additional 2 GWh of energy storage (ESS) capacity for Ukrainian projects. Within the scope of the agreement, the partners will focus on different types of solutions with a capacity of 6.25 MWh and 5 MWh. The first deliveries of equipment with a capacity of about 400 MWh are planned for the first quarter of this year.
This is about strengthening strategic partnerships between companies to scale up ESS capacities, which are critical to supporting the Ukrainian energy system.
“KNESS Group aims to actively develop storage solutions, as they are currently the most versatile and effective tool for supporting the energy system. It is ESS that is the “smart” link that will contribute to effective system balancing, integration of new capacities, and transition to a decentralized model of electricity production and consumption. And cooperation with HiTHIUM strengthens one of our areas of activity — the implementation of energy storages and their management for operation in the electricity market” — mentions Sergii Shakalov, co-owner and СЕО of KNESS Group.
Among other things, during the meeting in Warsaw, the partners analyzed the cooperation results over the previous year, during which more than 300 MWh of energy storage capacity was delivered to Ukraine. These are energy storage systems that KNESS implemented both for its own needs and for customers. The HiTHIUM team also presented a new technological solution with a capacity of 6.25 MWh and a discharge cycle of up to 4 hours.
“Energy storage systems, especially long-duration ones, are becoming critical infrastructure for supporting high renewable penetration and strengthening power system resilience in Ukraine. By combining HiTHIUM’s end-to-end capabilities with KNESS’s strong unique expertise, the two parties aim to deliver reliable and efficient energy storage solutions for the region” — comments Sam Wang, Sales Director at HiTHIUM.
It is worth reminding that KNESS is the official distributor and strategic partner of HiTHIUM, one of the world leaders developing and manufacturing energy storage systems. As part of this cooperation, KNESS has authorized rights to supply, install, and provide technical support for HiTHIUM ESSs in Ukraine and operates as a partner in European markets.
