Sergii Shakalov, СЕО and co-owner of KNESS Group, delivered a speech at the Energy of Business energy forum by Forbes Ukraine

The event brought together key stakeholders in the energy sector to discuss ways to achieve Ukraine’s energy independence.

“Currently, the country is in the process of transforming its energy sector, not at the beginning of the journey, but in the process. And our company is involved in this transformation. We are sharing our expertise, shaping and implementing new business models, and developing distributed generation with a focus on renewable energy. We invest in strategic and sustainable industrial energy projects that will increase the flexibility and reliability of Ukraine’s energy system. In particular, we are talking about energy storage facilities, which are a very important tool for balancing the power system” — Sergii Shakalov mentioned  during his speech.

Among other things, the CEO of KNESS spoke about the company’s main investment areas for the near future and shared his expertise on where companies should invest to ensure their energy independence.

“Currently, KNESS Group is investing or will invest in several areas, namely: wind energy development, distributed generation, and energy storage projects for the ancillary services market. The company will invest approximately $50 million in these areas. It should be noted that the above is only a part of the areas we are developing and investing in” — highlighted Sergii Shakalov.   

In response to the question of where enterprises should “look” to ensure their energy independence, Sergii Shakalov noted that there are no simple and universal solutions or models that would suit everyone. The CEO explained that it is more and more about unique and individual “stories”, as much depends on the needs and objectives of the business owner, as well as on the technical capabilities of the grid, the schedule and volume of electricity consumption, etc.
