A dedicated conference entitled “The role of the technology industry in Ukraine’s recovery” was held in Kyiv by We Build Ukraine. The event brought together government officials, leading Ukrainian and international companies, investors, and analysts. Our expert, Yanush Podvysotskyi, Head of IT Systems Administration and Cybersecurity at KNESS, also took part in the event. He was a speaker at the panel discussion: “How AI is changing the industry: a new era of Ukrainian technology.”
We are sharing the main points from the expert’s speech.
KNESS has been actively using neural networks since 2016, particularly in product areas for forecasting generation, analyzing equipment performance at energy facilities, and planning projects as part of preparing commercial proposals. Our system for forecasting electricity generation from renewable energy sources is one of the most accurate on the market. And thanks to the integration of a software module for monitoring equipment at solar power plants into our service direction, we are able to prevent losses of about 15 GWh of generation each year.
Cybersecurity is one of the most important issues today, because as artificial intelligence develops, so do the capabilities of malicious hackers who actively use AI in cyberattacks. No matter how perfect and reliable technical security is, one wrong move by an employee can jeopardize the entire company’s infrastructure. That is why KNESS regularly conducts training for the team. Our goal is to provide our colleagues with the knowledge they need to recognize threats in a timely manner and effectively protect both personal data and corporate resources.
In addition to risks related to cybersecurity and data quality deterioration (generation of fake images and videos, voice alteration), there are concerns that AI could replace a number of professions. That is why it is important to communicate with the employees that artificial intelligence is primarily a tool designed to simplify routine tasks and free up time for more important tasks. It is about improving efficiency. It is about the ability to focus on what matters most: analytics, strategy, and innovation.
