KNESS Aggregated Group has been actively operating in the ancillary services market for a month now. What are the results? The average efficiency of the automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) service provided by a KNESS aggregated unit is 98%. The team manages the aggregated energy storage systems using a specialized software developed in-house, which provides synchronous monitoring of equipment status and operating modes, price forecasting, system operator commands, and more to ensure high-quality service delivery.

A prerequisite for the KNESS Aggregated Group’s entry into the ancillary services market was the successful completion of the relevant certification. This document confirmed the technical readiness of the 5 MW aggregated unit to provide automatic frequency restoration reserve (aFRR) services based on the results of tests conducted by the transmission system operator. KNESS Aggregated unit was one of the first in Ukraine to obtain this certification and, thanks to the delegation procedure, is currently successfully fulfilling its obligations as a provider of ancillary services.
Activation of Aggregators in the electricity market makes it possible to engage a significantly larger number of facilities on market terms to provide balancing and enhance the stability of Ukraine’s power system. This is because the key task of an aggregator is to combine distributed, low-capacity power generation facilities into a single aggregation unit for effective management in response to requests from the system operator.
It is worth reminding that, in total, KNESS Balancing and Aggregated Groups comprise approximately 750 MW of RES and ESS facilities operating across all segments of the electricity market under various business models.
