Ivan Vekirchyk, co-founder of KNESS, was among the participants of the Rebuilding Ukraine Forum 2025, which took place in Bucharest, Romania. The event was organized by the Romania-Ukraine Bilateral Chamber of Commerce. The event served as a platform for dialogue between representatives of Romanian and international companies, government institutions, public organizations, and business associations, who jointly discussed issues related to Ukraine’s economic recovery.
At the event, Ivan Vekirchyk presented the activities of the KNESS Group and shared his experience in implementing innovative energy projects.
Key points from the speaker’s speech:
- KNESS Group has been operating in the renewable energy market for 16 years — practically since the emergence of this market in Ukraine. Today, the group covers a full range of services in the sector: from development, design, and construction, equipment manufacturing to commissioning and further maintenance, as well as electricity trading.
- KNESS’s portfolio of designed and constructed facilities includes over 1.3 GW of solar power generation (SPP), 100+ MWh of energy storage capacity (ESS), and power grids. We already provide operation and maintenance of over 1.7 GW of SPP, ESS, and WPP.
- For Ukraine, ESS is an extremely relevant tool, as the enemy is constantly attacking our energy infrastructure. Decentralized generation, which we previously dreamed of and developed, is now helping our energy system to withstand. We have already implemented more than 100 MWh of energy storage capacity through a special auction for ancillary services. Today, these projects help maintain the frequency and stability of Ukraine’s energy system. At the same time, we continue to develop our own software solutions that will be useful for the further development of ESS projects.
- KNESS implements projects in Ukraine, Latvia, and Poland. We see opportunities for joint projects with Romanian partners both in Ukraine and Romania. These include further scaling of distributed generation, energy storage projects, etc.
We would like to thank the Romania-Ukraine Bilateral Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Chamber’s official representative in Ukraine, Valentin Stroia, for the invitation and for organizing this important dialogue
