The KNESS Group has implemented the Free Own Generation (effective electricity management of the enterprise with the RES) project for Ferrexpo by building a 5 MW solar power plant on the site.
Today, Ferrexpo is not only a leader in the production and supply of iron ore pellets, but also the first Ukrainian company in its industry to introduce the use of solar energy without a “feed-in tariff”. The solar power plant, located on the territory of Poltava mining complex, will supply clean electricity to the company, helping it to move closer to low-carbon production.
Estimated annual electricity generation from SPP covers the range of 6.5-7 million kWh. This allows the company to reduce its “carbon footprint”. This Ferrexpo’s pilot project, located on the stockpiles, was implemented by the KNESS Group within 2 months.
The plant will supply electricity to Ferrexpo Group’s industrial plants. This project paves the way for a larger solar electricity generation at the group’s own facilities, further helping to ensure low-carbon production of iron ore pellets.
We are convinced that step by step, kilowatt by kilowatt, companies will switch to renewable energy sources. This is not only a high level of awareness and concern for the environment, but also the practical requirements of business.
