KNESS at the URC 2025

KNESS at the Ukraine Recovery Conference — URC 2025. The event brought together participants from different countries and economic sectors around a common goal: strengthening Ukraine’s resilience and accelerating its recovery.

In Rome, KNESS presented its solutions for the sustainability and flexibility of Ukraine’s energy system, including investment projects of energy storage systems (ESS) for the operation on the electricity market and wind farm development projects.

Decentralization of capacities is necessary to restore Ukraine’s energy system, taking into account security risks. According to our estimates, wind energy combined with energy storages will soon play a leading role in transforming Ukraine’s energy sector towards sustainability, reliability, and carbon neutrality.  KNESS Group is currently implementing wind farm development projects with a total capacity of over 500 MW. The company is also implementing one of the largest portfolios of energy storages in Ukraine for frequency replacement reserves.

“Today, Ukraine is seen not only through the prism of its resilience, but also as a country of real opportunities. Investments in the establishment and development of new energy by Ukrainian businesses, international partners, and investors confirm this. Practical steps have already been taken and visible results are evident, given the scale of new-generation projects and energy storages that are currently being actively implemented in Ukraine.” — notes Sergii Shakalov, CEO of KNESS Group, after returning from URC 2025.

In addition to presenting projects, KNESS delegates met with partners, exchanged experiences and plans, and attended thematic panel discussions with world leaders. The key observation was that discussions were followed by concrete actions: from fragmented assistance to coordinated support and investments, from declarations to signed agreements. One example is the creation of the Flagship Fund, the world’s largest equity fund, which will promote investments in energy. At the Conference, the European partners also announced the launch of a fund to reduce risks for renewable energy sources, with an initial contribution of €180 million from the EU. This is a long-term vision that signals to businesses and other initiatives new opportunities for involvement in Ukraine’s recovery and growth.

We would like to thank all our partners and industry colleagues for the meetings and substantive discussions at URC 2025. Together, we will continue to strengthen the country and bring it closer to energy independence.
