Vegetation control is an integral part of solar power plant operation, a safety requirement and one of the O&M services provided by KNESS. It is important for avoiding shadowing of the modules so that the plant generates at maximum efficiency, as well as for preventing fires in the dry season.
Among the eco-friendly methods of vegetation control at power plants, which is widespread in Europe, is sheep grazing. The KNESS maintenance team also uses this method as an alternative to mechanical mowing at several solar plants in our O&M portfolio. We cooperate with local farmers for this purpose. What are the benefits of such neighborliness?
From our observations, small eco-assistants ‘mow’ the grass every day, constantly looking for ‘green patches’, even in hard-to-reach places. At the same time, the O&M team regularly inspects and monitors the level of vegetation, and always has special mowing equipment ready for use.
Moreover, the combination of solar energy and farming is a “dual”, efficient use of land, which is especially valuable for the sustainable development of communities with renewable energy facilities and sheep farms in their territory.
Combining sustainable development practices with the highest quality standards in the O&M range of services by KNESS.
